When we examine the very basics of the economy we find that it consists of workers, customers, venders, and manufactures and each one depends on the others. It seems that the government doesn’t even understand the very basics.

It makes no sense to give business money for nothing. The government has become the only entity large enough to solve the problem. The government can either give business money for nothing, which will only delay bankruptcy, or they can become the largest customer of their goods.

The auto manufacturing companies can manufacture all kinds of military equipment and we just happen to need to replace equipment. They would have a customer and we would have jobs: plus the country would get something for our money.

They could also be made to manufacture cheap, fuel efficient, and good autos like foreign manufacturers do. Having a customer as large as the government could insure that we get what we must pay for; though we aren’t now, so there is not much hope for that. The government would have enough clout to set fair prices as well as setting standards. Well, that is if graft were controlled and it isn’t now.

If this sounds like communism to you then it should be obvious that we are all ready communists or perhaps we do not even have a system. It is certain that this system is not working.

The government caused this recession by giving all of our manufacturing jobs to any foreign business that wanted them. It is not a credit problem. If you have no job then no one is going to loan you money, so the banks are just sitting on the money that was given to them; with no accountability to handle it properly I might add. Eventually, without customers, the money will all be spent on expenses and they will want more.

To recover from the last “Great Depression” the government spent money on roads, bridges and many other projects that ultimately benefited the people. This government needs to come to its senses (if it has any) and use the wealth as a business would.

The government could buy the vehicles that the auto companies can not sell, because no one can afford them. Then put the people back to work and have drawings for what they had no choice but to buy; at least we would have an income and some of the people would get something for all of the people’s money, and eventually the economy would recover.

Every time the politicians that we elect do not do as they promised we say that we will kick them out of office and elect someone that will do as they say. Well, we haven’t elected one yet. Those that we have just elected have the opportunity to produce, but by now I have no confidence in the system.

Anyway, if the people’s money (actually credit) were to be handled correctly the basics of economy would be fulfilled. The people would have income to pay for housing, food, and the taxes that will have to be paid, the businesses of the country would have a buyer for their goods and therefore could keep or hire employees, the venders would have something to vend, and the government would demonstrate some responsibility with the people’s money.

Of course these unfair “free trade” agreements have to be stopped. It is not fair when other countries subsidize trade and we do not. It is not fair when we must protect the environment and other countries do not. It is unfair when our living expenses are out of sight when compared to those in foreign countries. It is unfair and even illegal to pay an American worker the low wages that are paid in other countries; not to mention he can not exist on those wages.

If the government will not stop this then maybe dock workers or those who are responsible for berthing the ships could slow everything down. If they can’t unload the goods then they can not sell them and unfairly compete with the American worker. Somebody has to do something other than just giving our future to the rich.

If these agreements are not stopped there is no hope of recovery. Americans or anyone for that matter will buy at the lowest price. That is what got us here. It is not the American workers fault. It is the fault of those who allowed the unfair trade. If jobs are reinstated for the American worker and unfair trade continued to be allowed we will never recover, as we all buy at the lowest price; especially when we have no steady income. It is a shame that the government is not doing the very basic task for which it was formed. The basic job of government is to protect the people that it governs: not the whole world.

The solution to the economy in my opinion is to have sound money as a starting point. Astudent, grab a dollar bill from you wallet and ask yourself how this is money? It’s just a piece of paper and gets its value from government decree – Fiat money. Is paper money backed by nothing or as I like to call it ‘monopoly money’ biblical? Proverbs 11 says – “The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.” If you look throughout history money has always been tied to gold and silver. I believe God created gold and silver for us to be used as a medium of exchange and it has a long track record of being used just as that.

If you’re old enough to remember, in ’71 Nixon took us of the gold standard and for the first time the whole entire world used fiat money backed by nothing. So it’s been going on for a little over 40 years and look at all of the debt/deficits each country has built up with no possible way of paying it off. The only solution is to inflate away the debt by printing more money. If you follow the economic news all you would hear these days is global quantitative easing, which is another fancy name for printing digital money. The US, EU, Japan are all doing it and the amount of inflation/debasement is going to hit hardest on those who are the poorest. i think it’s such an evil system.

I’m glad I found your site because I’m exposed to views that are very untypical of what you would find in a typical protestant church. Oh I’ve heard every sermon on the topic of money, but I’ve never heard a sermon explaining what real money is from a biblical standpoint. Looking back I can understand because a church that speaks out against the dollar may lose their 501c exemption status (donations not taxed). Truth is I’m trying to unlearn what I deemed as truth for a long time and just read the bible for myself, praying that the Holy Spirit would reveal the truth to me. I’m disappointed it took me this long in life to realize that but I have no one to blame but myself for trusting in another man’s interpretation of the bible instead of reading it for myself.

    Peace be with you.

    Debbie Price,

Have you realized that those that ridicule Christians for our belief in God believe deeply in a piece of paper with numbers printed on it?

As you pointed out, it is “Fiat” money. It is only worth what others “believe” it is worth. The same can be said about gold and silver. If a man is in the desert, dying of thirst, he will give all of the gold that he has, just for water, but in different circumstances, water is worth almost nothing.

Money is an idol, but unlike most idols, money does have power. However, it only has the power that man gives it. All idols oppose God and money is no different.

The real truth is that there is no solution to the economy. The government is using money to control us and because we believe that we need money to exist, they have the upper hand.

You have reached the key to understanding. Read and think about the Bible for yourself. As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another, but iron cannot sharpen iron. One must use a stone to sharpen any cutting tool. God is our Stone and only He can really sharpen us.

The church has become corrupt because of money. Tithing is not taught, but twisted to make the congregation think it was to be given to the Temple every year and the true intent of the tithe is lost (look it up for yourself). It seems to me that most preachers preach more for money than for truth.

You have hit the nail on the head when you say that you must unlearn what you thought was truth. I also have realized the same and it includes this country, church, etc.

It is not your fault that you have listened to what preachers have said: it is their fault. A church service as God intended is described in 1 Corinthians 14. Everyone should take part in speaking about God, if the Spirit prompts him or her, not just one man because he is the leader. There should be two or more leaders, but that is not how it is done in the Church today and just as it says, the church is weak (1 Cor 14:26).

By the way, I cannot find where the Law says that a woman should be silent in church. All of the true law, that of God, comes from two commandments.

Mat 22:36-40 (NIV) “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

I do not see anything that implies women are less, or different from men. I think the writer of Corinthians is speaking of the Law of the Jewish people, or the Old Testament law. A law of symbolism and not the true Law of our Father.

1Co 14:36-38 (NIV) Did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached? If anybody thinks he is a prophet or spiritually gifted, let him acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord’s command. If he ignores this, he himself will be ignored.

I do not think it is the Lord’s command, but the command of someone that had been, to long, a teacher of the Old Testament Law. So ignore me. I must speak what I see as truth. Test what I said with God’s Word and see if He views anyone as better than another. Well, Jesus is better than all of us, so just consider everyone else.
