BLESSED ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT.

June 5, 2013

The understanding of Matthew 5:3 (“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”) has eluded me until just a few days ago.

I know that I have the Holy Spirit so I did not view myself as poor in spirit. I wondered how anyone that was poor in spirit could inherit the kingdom of heaven.

I was thinking about this and I happened to hit the “compare” button in e-Sword (Free Bible on the Web) and I see that the word that is translated as poor means “a beggar”.

Then the verse became clear. You see, I am a beggar and I am always asking God for more understanding. Because understanding comes from the Holy Spirit then I am always begging for more of Him, so I am poor in spirit.

That may be a small thing to you, but everything that I am given is a big thing to me.

WE ARE THE CHURCH OF LAODICEA!

June 4, 2013

I have put this off, because I do not like it, but it is true, we are the last church and we are lukewarm.

I know that some will have a different answer, but ask yourself, ‘What do I need spiritually?’

I believe that most of us will say ‘Nothing, I have Jesus and I do not need anything else’.

Now, ask Jesus the same question. He knew your answer before you thought of it and it is not his answer. His answer can be found at Revelation 3:14-22 and specifically at verse 3:17 (NIV) You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

We are all a product of a corrupt system of religion: the leaders as well as the followers. The Temple of the Old Testament became corrupt and the Church of the New Testament has followed suit.

The tool that Satan has used is the same tool for both the Temple and the Church. It is money. The position of leader is a paid position and the person that accepts it has to attempt to serve both God and money. We are told that is not possible (Mat 6:24 & Luke 16:13).

Let me demonstrate what I mean. A leader (in the United States) that would preach that the United States was formed in rebellion to God risks loosing his position as leader, because most of the followers have been told that this country was formed under Biblical principals, when, in fact, it was formed by those who would not pay taxes and would not accept the king of the colonies as the authority God had appointed (Rom 13:17 and 13:1&2). Those are not Biblical principals.

I am not placing all of the blame on the leaders of the church. 2Tim 4:3&4 (NIV) “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”

If I were trying to wrap this up into one sentence, I would have to say, “Everyone is just in church for what they can get for themselves.” There is no thought given to God and what He wants. That would take some time and effort. Learning about God seems unnecessary as they already have Jesus and they believe they do not need anything else.

We look to men for Spiritual guidance and understanding and God waits in our minds for us to turn to Him.

Let me give you a parable to show you what I mean.

There is a table and on the table is a pitcher of water. There is a man, or woman if you prefer, on each side of the table and both are thirsty. There is a glass in front of each person. The person on the right picks up the pitcher, pours the glass full, and drinks it. The person on the right just watches. Both know, and understand, that the water will slake ones thirst, but only one was satisfied.

The Word of God is the water and the man that looks intently into it, for himself, will be satisfied, but the one that looks to another for understanding, even though he sees and understands what the other man does, will not be satisfied.

Look at me and understand what I understand. Repent, that is to change, always repent, because we can never be perfect. We must always remember what we did at first and that was to repent and ask God for mercy. Do not just look at me. Search His Word for yourself and He will satisfy you.

God wants children that obey the Law, or at least try to obey the Law. All of the Law comes from two commands – Love your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and love your neighbor as yourself. God could raise up stones to do that, but thank Him that He wants us and not stones.

You cannot feel love for someone that you do not know and you cannot know God by listening to man. That includes this man.
